- Heard this unusual bird 'singing' on several occasions on South Parade but never managed to see it. This morning a ring necked parakeet flew down the access road behind my flat on South Parade !

- Cleasby Lake, the weather was a bit dull this afternoon for Dragonflies with only Common, Azure and Red-eyed Damselfly seen on the pond. Walking back to the car I found a stunning male Southern Hawker hanging from a twig in the hedgerow.

- A Peregrine falcon flew over me while I was cycling passed Croft Circuit. I knew something was up there because the birds were all frantic. It went into full stealth bomber mode but didnt get anything. Superb to watch so close. Robin King and I saw one in that area a few years ago...hopefully same one.

Parakeet on feeder in South Parade , Northallerton earlier in week ( not mine but I was sent photo). Not terribly clear but looks like female ring necked parakeet. Apparently another report also in Northallerton few days earlier. Anybody else seen any locally ?
Also purple hairstreak in our garden in Warlaby last week . Seen them in oaks on roadside last 2 years.

- Feldom ranges last night. Sparrow hawk, a pair of buzzards displaying, mistle thrush, spotted flycatchers, pair of curlew running up the road only metres in front of my car for several hundred metres, and red legged partridge.

Nosterfield today. Black-necked Grebe on main lake with 31 Black-tailed Godwits all in striking summer plumage, 6 Dunlin sporting black bellies, Little Grebes with chicks hitching a ride, numerous Great Crested Grebe juveniles, Green Woodpecker, 3 Little Owls on show - 2 of which were juveniles.
Meadow Brown, Ringlet, Small Skipper, Small Tortoiseshell, Red Admiral, Speckled Wood, Common Darter, Blue-tailed Damselfly and a splendid array of wild flowers enhancing the experience.
